Week #...who knows? And MY FIRST BAPTISM!

okay so HI FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!

So this week was moderately lame until about Wednesday. On Wednesday morning we visited Carmen and Jondry and we were just talking with them and Carmen was like "ya know, maybe I don`t want to get baptized yet but I know that Jondry does. And he wants to this weekend if possible." .....say WHAT?! ya okay We called the Zone Leaders right away and they came by and did the interveiw and BAM Jondry passed with flying colors! It didn`t even matter that he lacked a Church Assistance because he did so well in his interview.
After that it was phone call after phone call after phone call to try and through things together in 3 days. We eventually got the Primary president to give a little talk and the Bishop to perform the ordinance! We sent out texts to invite people and tried to spread the word as best we could.
Saturday came and in the morning H. Blas and I went to meet up with the Sister Leaders cause they had the baptismal clothes and BOY was it raining!! It was SO bad! We were walking on the Sidewalk and every time a car drove by we got SOAKED! like...front-row-Splash-zone-Shamu-sea-world-SOAKED. YIKES. needles to say we safely retrieved the clothing for Jondry.
After that we left for the church to start preparing everything, setting up chairs, mopping the floors (in that order thanks to the genius of my companion.) and filling the font...blah blah blah. Anyway while we were waiting I was playing the little electric piano they have there and H. Blas was like, "Hey! wanna do a special musical number??" I wanted to be like uhh...NO! but Jondry was right there and he started saying "por favor" OVER AND OVER AND OVER again! so I basically had no choice cause that kid has my heart on a string.
Anyway, 5 o`clock rolls around and people start filling in and there isn`t a ton of people but enough to make is special! we started, we sang, we prayed, we talked, I sang and played, and then...IT WAS TIME!!
Jondry and the bishop left the room and we all watched as they entered into the font together. The bishop raised his hand to the square and then said words in Spanish that I didn`t care to try to understand perfectly and then dunked Jondry under the water.the second i saw Jondry go under MY HEART GREW WINGS AND TOOK FLIGHT!! I literally don`t like I`ve ever been that happy before!
On Sunday he received the Holy Ghost and was confirmed a member of the church!!

Holy cow....that's why i`m here. THAT is what I`ve been waiting for. and It all went down on March First. I don`t know if I told you about this but our mission does this thing every February and March called "Faith of February Miracles of March." Everybody, say HELLO to miracle number 1.

okay, something I want to share with all of you is something i found while studying the Liahona for this month. It was in Spanish but I`ve tried my best to translate it for y`all. It`s from a talk by..Elder Scott?? or someone?? about how we can live a life of success. and he gives us ten steps to do so:

1: Establish rules that guide your way of living.
2: Never make exceptions to those rules.
3: Be Loyal
4: Living in such a way that the Lord can be your guide.
5: Serve others
6: Smile
7: Don`t Complain
8: Have a calling in the Church
9: Worship in the Temple
10: Follow the example of the Savior

according to the first guide line I came up with my own "Rules of Life" and they are:

1: "Embrace each day with an enthusiastic welcome, no mater how it looks." -Elder F. Enzio Busche
2: Read my scriptures everyday.
3: Pray everyday.
4: Love everyone, if I feel like I don´t, serve them unti I do.
5: Laugh at least once a day.
6: Smile, especially when I`m sad.
7: Go to the temple once a month.
8: Obey all laws and commandments
9: Learn something new everyday.
10: Enjoy my "now"

TADA! haha! and now some radon information about Ecuador:

Everyday we ride these buses and honestly.. It`s EXACTLY like riding the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland...like...to a T. the Bus drivers just don`t really care if we`re sliding all around and slamming into people and things. It`s QUITE the adventure.

The stores here are named after what they sell or the service they offer for example: a Panaderia, sells Pan (bread), a Zapateria, Fixes or sells zapatos (shoes). Pretty basic right? the only thing that scares me is the Ferreteria....I`ve yet to discover what they have in stock.....yikes.

When I first came here we would go to members houses and they would always give us this Tea stuff that's not actually tea, but ya, anyway. It literally tastes like Soapy Hot Water and I couldn`t stand it!! We went to this other house and she offered us the tea and I asked my comp if it was the same stuff and she told me it was different and I breathed a sigh of relief and took a gulp...she was right it WAS different...It was Cinnamon-y Soapy Hot Water.  yumm. hahaha! but that was when I first got here and now i LOVE it!!

I leave you all now with a Scripture..or chapter really. Helaman ch 5 in the Book of Mormon... ITS AMAZING!!!!! read it...live it...love it. gotta go bye!

TE AMO AL LUNA Y TRAER!
(I love you to the moon and back)

Hermana G :)
